LONGi is planning to upgrade its existing cell and module lines for production of 166mm wafer.
5 GW capacity monocrystalline cell line in Yinchuan will be upgraded for 166mm size Mono Solar Cell.
Silicon wafer contribute for 30%-40% of the price of a solar module. Larger wafer size will increase the area exposed to light, increasing power and reducing cost.
The industry is been trending toward bigger size silicon wafer. Nevertheless, bigger wafer size also rises the weight of the module.
