EWA, Bahrain Calls Bids for 90-100 MW Al Dur Solar PV Power Stations Project

Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has issued an invitation for bids to undertake a significant project at the Al Dur Solar PV Power Stations, aimed at establishing a solar energy facility with a capacity ranging between 90 and 100 megawatts.

Bahrain takes a significant step towards enhancing its energy sustainability with the initiation of a tender for the establishment of Solar Power Stations in the Al Dur area. Led by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), this project aligns with national goals of diversifying energy resources and fostering sustainability. Tender Details: Notable aspects of the tender include an initial bond requirement of BD 5000, bid validity period of 180 days, and a tender fee of BD 100. The contract duration is set at 18 months from the date of award.

Eligibility Criteria: Prospective bidders must demonstrate experience in designing, engineering, and executing grid-connected solar power projects of minimum 75 MW capacity over the last five years. Proficiency in operation & maintenance of solar PV projects, integration with electricity grids, and financial stability are also mandatory.

At least two grid-connected plants of75MW or higher should have been completed and have been in operation successfully for at least three (3) years before the bid opening day.

Experience in Operation & Maintenance of Solar PV Projects of 75 MW and above for three years, where the Bidder has acted as a developer or an EPC contractor.

Experience in integrating solar power stations with electricity grids at voltage level of 66 kV and 220 kV substations. 

Eligible bidder should have a cumulative turnover of at least USD100 million in the last three financial years.

Timeline: The publication date of the tender is February 5, 2024, with bid submission deadline on April 3, 2024, and bid opening scheduled for April 4, 2024.
