MNRE Lifts Abeyance on Solar Photovoltaic Module Regulations: ALMM Order to Take Effect from April 1, 2024

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy suspended the implementation of the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules Order for the fiscal year 2023-24. The order would resume on April 1, 2024, requiring compulsory use ALMM registered Solar PV Module.

This decision brings significant relief to solar module manufacturing companies in India, potentially safeguarding jobs in the sector.

Each project where the solar PV modules have been received at the project site by 31 March, 2024 and is unable to get commissioned by that day, on account of reasons beyond the control of the renewable power developer, would be examined separately.


MNRE’s Order of even no. dated 10″ March 2023, the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2019 (ALMM Order) was held in abeyance for one financial year, i.e. FY 2023-24. It is clarified that the ALMIVI [Approved List of Models & Manufacturers’ for Solar PV Modules, shall accordingly come into effect from 1st April, 2024.
