Subsidy Details for Residential Households
- Up to 2 kW: Rs. 30,000 per kW
- Additional Capacity (up to 3 kW): Rs. 18,000 per kW
- Systems Larger than 3 kW: Total subsidy capped at Rs 78,000
Suitable Rooftop Solar Plant Capacity Based on Consumption
- 0-150 units/month: 1 – 2 kW
- 150-300 units/month: 2 – 3 kW
- >300 units/month: Above 3 kW
Subsidy for Group Housing Societies/Resident Welfare Associations (GHS/RWA)
- Common Facilities (including EV charging): Rs. 18,000 per kW for up to 500 kW capacity (@3 kW per house)
- Upper Limit: Inclusive of individual rooftop plants installed by residents within the GHS/RWA
Objectives and Aims
The primary objectives of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana are to:

- National Awareness and Outreach Plan (NAOP-PMSG): Developed by NPIA with MNRE approval.
- State Awareness and Outreach Plans (SAOPs): Formulated by SIAs with MNRE approval via NPIA.
Multi-Channel Promotion
The Ministry will employ diverse promotional channels to maximize outreach:
- Public Campaigns: Social media, print media, television, radio jingles, and street theatre.
- Door-to-Door Campaigns: Direct community engagement to spread information about the scheme.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partnerships with various ministries, self-help groups, cooperatives, and local bodies.
Financial Management
- Total Budget for Awareness and Outreach: Rs 657 crore.
- Approval Process: Detailed plans and budgets will be scrutinized and approved by an Awareness and Outreach Committee chaired by the Mission Director of the scheme.
Monitoring and Amendments
- Continuous Monitoring: NPIA will oversee the implementation and effectiveness of awareness activities.
- Flexible Amendments: MNRE can amend guidelines as needed to ensure the scheme remains effective and aligned with its objectives.
