Turkey Imposes $25 per Square Meter Guarantee on PV Module Imports from Five Countries

Tariff on Solar Module Imports from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia, and Jordan.

The Trade Ministry of Turkey has issued a statement regarding the import of “photovoltaic cells assembled into a module or arranged in panels” (solar panels) originating from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia, and Jordan. These imports will now be subject to a guarantee of $25 per square meter.

According to Turkish media outlet Hurriyet, the Turkish government implements these guarantees, implemented within the framework of an investigation to counter unfair competition in imports, will be recorded as revenue to the Treasury. Should the investigation conclude without imposing measures, the guarantee application will cease, and the received guarantees will be refunded.

Last year, measures against unfair competition in imports were extended to include Chinese solar modules. This decision aimed to address dumping margins of 25 to 30 percent of the CIF value of Chinese solar panels, resulting in a reduction of exports from certain Chinese solar panel manufacturers to Turkey by $20 per square meter.
